The uterus.
English or Latin uterus plus ‑o‑.
Many instances are adjectives that refer to the uterus plus another part of the body, such as uteroplacental of the placenta and uterus; uterovaginal, of the uterus and vagina; uterocervical, of the cervix, the neck of the uterus. Such terms are often hyphenated. A uterotomy (Greek ‑tomia, cutting) is a surgical incision into the uterus, as in a caesarean section; uterosalpingography (see salpingo‑) is an x-ray examination of the interior of the womb and the Fallopian tubes.
