Urea is a nitrogen-containing substance excreted in urine. Uraemia (US uremia) (Greek haima, blood) is a raised level in the blood of urea and other nitrogenous waste compounds that are normally eliminated by the kidneys; urease is an enzyme that catalyses the conversion of urea to carbon dioxide and ammonia; a ureide is any of a group of compounds which are acyl derivatives of urea; urethane (also called ethyl carbamate) is a synthetic crystalline derived compound from urea used in making pesticides and fungicides, which polymerizes to make the resin polyurethane, used in paints, varnishes and adhesives.
