A trochophore (Greek ‑phoros, ‑phoron, bearing, bearer) is one of the planktonic larva of certain invertebrates, having a roughly spherical body, a band of cilia, and a spinning motion; a trochosphere is the planktonic larva of any of various invertebrates, including certain molluscs and polychaete worms, having a spheroidal body with a ring of cilia in front of the mouth; something trochoidal is wheel-like, in various applications.
