Some examples are technocracy (Greek ‑kratia, power or rule), the government or control of society or industry by an elite of technical experts; technophile, a person who is enthusiastic about new technology (the opposite being a technophobe); technothriller, a suspense novel in which the manipulation of sophisticated technology plays an important role. Informal or short-lived terms in techno‑ are common; they often focus on the implications of technology for individuals or society, especially in relation to computer technology, and are frequently disparaging: technostress, stress or psychosomatic illness caused by working with computer technology on a daily basis; technobabble, incomprehensible technical jargon; technonerd, a person overly absorbed in technical matters, especially in computing. Techno, an abbreviation of technology, is a style of fast, heavy electronic dance music.
