Podiatry (Greek iatros, physician) is the treatment of the feet and their ailments, chiropody; podology is the study of the feet; podagra (Greek agra, seizure) is gout of the foot, especially the big toe; the podocarp (Greek karpos, fruit) is a coniferous tree or shrub chiefly native to the southern hemisphere; podophyllum (Greek phullon, leaf) is the dried rhizome of the May apple or American mandrake, from which podophyllin is derived, a caustic resin sometimes used to treat warts.
