Examples are patrimony (from Latin), property inherited from one's father or male ancestor; patronymic (Greek onuma, name), a name derived from the name of a father or ancestor; patricide (Latin caedere, kill), the killing of one's father, or a person who kills his or her father; patrilineal, based on relationship to the father or descent through the male line.
