parieto-
Body cavity; hollow structure.
English parietal, from Latin paries, pariet‑, wall.
The adjective parietal is used in medicine to refer to the wall of a body cavity or hollow structure. A few compound adjectives refer to such a structure plus another part of the body: parieto-occipital, of the parietal bone (which forms the central side and upper back part of each side of the skull) together with the occipital bone (the one that forms the back and base of the skull); parieto-visceral, pertaining to the abdominal wall and abdominal organs. Such forms also occur unhyphenated.
