papulo-
A papule.
Latin papula, a small protuberance.
A papule is a small, raised, solid pimple or swelling, often forming part of a rash on the skin, typically inflamed but not producing pus. A rash that is papulosquamous (Latin squama, scale) is both papular and scaly; one that is papulovesicular (Latin vesica, bladder) has both papules and vesicles, small blisters full of clear fluid; a skin eruption that is papulopustular has both papules and pustules. Less commonly, these compounds appear hyphenated.
