Affixes

Terms here are mainly found in zoology rather than medicine. Examples include oviduct, the tube through which an ovum or egg passes from an ovary (in humans more commonly called a Fallopian tube); oviparous, producing young by means of eggs which are hatched after they have been laid by the parent, as in birds (as opposed to ovoviviparous, in which young are produced by means of eggs hatched within the body of the parent, as in some snakes); ovipositor, a tubular organ through which a female insect or fish deposits eggs; ovotestis, an organ producing both ova and spermatozoa, especially in some gastropod molluscs. Something oviform is egg-shaped.

Ovine, relating to sheep, comes instead from Latin ovis, a sheep.
