A nosocomial disease (Greek nosokomos, person who tends the sick) is one that originates in a hospital; nosography is the systematic description of diseases; nosology is the branch of medical science dealing with the classification of diseases; nosophobia is a morbid fear of disease. In homeopathy, a nosode is a preparation of substances secreted in the course of a disease, used in the treatment of that disease.
