English elastic (from Greek elastikos, propulsive), plus ‑o‑.
Examples include elastin, an elastic, fibrous glycoprotein found in connective tissue; elastomer, a natural or synthetic polymer having elastic properties, such as rubber; elastofibroma, a type of benign, elastic tissue that can develop in older people; elastography, an ultrasonic imaging technique for measuring the elasticity of soft tissues; and elastosis, the degeneration of fibres in connective tissues and skin.
