Affixes
chiro-
Also cheiro‑.
A hand.
Greek kheir, hand.
Two common examples are chiropody (Greek pous, foot), treatment of the feet, and chiropractor (Greek praktikos, practical), a therapist who manipulates the joints using the hands. Cheiro‑ is an alternative spelling mainly restricted to natural history, as in Cheirotherium (Greek thērion, animal), an extinct animal whose footprints resemble a human hand.
