Examples include omniscient (Latin scire, to know), knowing everything; omnipotent (Latin potens, potent‑, power), having unlimited power; omnicompetent, able to deal with all matters or solve all problems; and omnipresent, present everywhere at the same time (said especially of God). An omnivore (Latin vorare, devour) eats a variety of food of both plant and animal origin; an omnibus (literally ‘for all’, the dative plural of omnis) comprises several items or editions, or is a rather old-fashioned term for bus, its abbreviation; an omnidirectional antenna receives or transmits radio signals in all directions.
