Examples include acidosis, an excessively acid condition of the tissues or fluids; aciduria, a medical condition in which acid is present in the urine; to acidify a substance is to make it acidic, while to acidulate it is to make it only slightly acid; a substance that is acidulous is mildly sharp-tasting or sour (and can refer in a figurative sense to cutting or bitter remarks); acidimetry is the measurement of the strengths of acids; something acidophilic (Greek philia, fondness) is either easily stained with acid dyes, or grows best in acid conditions.
