Other examples include metropolis (Greek mētēr, mētr‑, mother), the capital or chief city of a country or region; necropolis (Greek nekros, dead person), a cemetery, especially a large one belonging to an ancient city; cosmopolis (Greek kosmos, world), a city inhabited by people from many different countries; megalopolis (Greek megas, megal‑, great), a very large, heavily populated city or urban complex.
