Latin flos, flor‑, a flower, plus ‑ous.
This ending appears in a few uncommon adjectives. Examples are cauliflorous (Latin caulis, stem), having flowers on the stem, as a cauliflower plant does; multiflorous, having many flowers (with its opposite uniflorous, having only one flower); and ramiflorous (Latin ramus, branch) flowering on the branches.
