Ox or bull.
[Greek tauros, bull.]
Taurine is a sulphur-containing amino acid important in the metabolism of fats, so named because it was originally obtained from ox bile; taurocholic acid is a bile acid formed by the combination of taurine with cholic acid. Tauromachy is an alternative term for bullfighting.
