Ribbon; tapeworm.
Greek tainia, band, ribbon.
This form appears in a few medical terms related to tapeworms of the genus Taenia, especially taeniasis, infestation by them; a taeniafuge (Latin fugare, cause to flee) or taeniacide (Latin caedere, kill) is an agent that eliminates them from the body. A term reflecting the original Greek sense is taenia, of which one sense is a flat ribbon-like structure in the body.
