A condition of the mind.
[Greek thumos, state of mind.]
Examples include dysthymia (Greek dus-, bad or difficult), persistent mild depression; cyclothymia (Greek kuklos, circle), a mental state in which there are marked swings of mood between depression and elation; and alexithymia (a-, without, plus Greek lexis speech), a disorder marked by inability to recognize or express emotions.
