A retinopathy (Greek patheia, suffering, feeling) is one of various diseases of the retina which results in impairment or loss of vision; a retinoblastoma is a rare malignant tumour of the retina, affecting young children; a retinoscope is an instrument used to determine errors of refraction in the eye; retinitis is inflammation of the retina of the eye.
