Surgical sewing or suturing.
Greek ‑rraphia, from rhaphē, a seam.
These are specialist medical terms; they include herniorrhaphy, suturing of a hernia; colporrhaphy (Greek kolpos, womb), an operation to remove lax and redundant vaginal tissue in cases of prolapse of the vaginal wall; and tenorrhaphy, joining a severed tendon with a suture.
