Surgical operation for fixing an organ in position.
[Greek -pexia, pexis, fixing or putting together.]
Examples include mastopexy (Greek mastos, breast), an operation to lift and fix the breast; orchidopexy (also orchiopexy) (Greek orkhis, testicle), an operation to move an undescended testicle into the scrotum and fix it there; gastropexy, surgical attachment of the stomach to the intestinal wall.
