nona-
Nine; having nine.
[Latin nonus, ninth.]
A nonagon is a plane figure with nine straight sides and nine angles; a nonet is a group of nine people or things, especially musicians; nonane is a hydrocarbon of the alkane series with nine carbon atoms; in the Roman Catholic church a novena is a form of worship consisting of special prayers or services on nine successive days. A few words are based on the related Latin word nonaginta, ninety, such as nonagenarian, a person who is between 90 and 99 years old. See also ennea- and the entry Number words.
