nepho- Also nephelo-.
Cloud.
[Greek nephos, cloud.]
Nephology is the study of clouds, a nephoscope is a device that measures the altitude of clouds and the direction and speed of their movement, and nephanalysis is the analysis of the resulting data, often in graphical form. A nephelometer is a device for measuring the cloudiness of liquids. The associated adjective is nepheloid, as for example in nepheloid layer, a layer just above the bottom of a body of water that is cloudy owing to suspended mineral matter and nutrients.
