Metallurgy (Greek -ourgia, working) is the branch of science and technology concerned with metals; something metallized has been coated with a thin layer of metal; a metalliferous (Latin -fer, producing) mineral or ore contains or produces metal; a metallophone (Greek phōnē, sound) is a musical instrument in which the sound is produced by striking metal bars of varying pitches. A metalloprotein is a protein that contains metal atoms in its molecule and a metalloenzyme is similarly an enzyme containing metal atoms.
