Large; great.
Latin magnus, great.
Though several English words contain this form, it is not in active use. Examples are magnify, to make larger; magnate, a wealthy and influential person; magnanimous (Latin animus, soul), very generous or forgiving; magniloquent (Latin ‑loquus, -speaking), using high-flown or bombastic language. The Latin original is perhaps best known from Magna Carta, the Great Charter, signed by King John of England in 1215.
