This form is most commonly found in limnology, the study of the features of bodies of fresh water, and in its compounds. Other examples are limnic, of a sediment laid down in fresh water such as a lake or swamp; Limnaea, the genus of freshwater pond snails; and limnoplankton, plankton that prefer fresh water.
