The adjective inotropic refers to something that modifies the force or speed of contraction of muscles, especially the heart; inositol is a simple carbohydrate which occurs in animal and plant tissue, especially muscle; inosine is a nucleoside found in animal tissue which is used in kidney transplantation to provide a temporary source of sugar; an inosilicate is a silicate mineral in which the SiO4 groups are connected in parallel chains like fibres.
