-ition
Forming nouns.
[French, or from Latin -itio(n)-.]
This suffix may be considered to be a combination of -ite2 and -ion and is equivalent to -ation. Some examples are audition, condition, definition, disposition, edition, inhibition, nutrition, prohibition, sedition, tradition, and volition. Some form associated adjectives in -itious.
