hind-
At the back; posterior.
[Middle English hind, at the back.]
Some examples relating to parts of a body are hindquarters, hindwing, and hindbrain (the lower part of the brainstem). Something or someone hindmost is the furthest back; hindsight is understanding a situation only after it has happened. A hindrance, something causing resistance or delay, comes from the related verb hinder.
