fronto- Also fronti-
The forehead or front part of something.
[Latin frons, front-, front or forehead.]
The most common word here is frontispiece (Latin specere, to look, so unrelated to piece), an illustration facing the title page of a book. Some examples are terms in anatomy or surgery: frontocortical, of the front of the cerebral cortex; frontoparietal, of the frontal bone or lobe. In meteorology, frontogenesis is the formation or development of a weather front, whose opposite is frontolysis (from Greek luein, loosen).
