A skull that is dolichocephalic is relatively long compared to its width; a dolichocolon is an excessively long colon; dolichol is a long-chain unsaturated compound whose phosphate is important in converting proteins into sugars in the body. Dolichos is a genus of leguminous plants, so named because members have long seed pods; Dolichotis (Greek ous, ōt-, ear) is a genus of South American rodents with long ears (Dolichotis patagonum is the Patagonian hare).
