dictyo-

A net.

Greek diktuon, net.

The Dictyoptera (Greek pteron, wing, from their veined appearance) are an order of insects that comprises the cockroaches and mantises; a dictyostele in some ferns and dicotyledons is a stele, the central core of the stem, which is so interrupted by leaf-gaps as to resemble a network of strands; a dictyosome (Greek sōma, body) is the set of flattened membranes in a Golgi body (a complex of vesicles and folded membranes within the cytoplasm), that resembles a stack of plates.
