Terms mostly occur in medicine in reference to an abnormal state: bradycardia (Greek kardia, heart) is abnormally slow heart action; bradykinesia (Greek kinēsis, motion) is a condition in which body movements are abnormally slow; bradyphasia (Greek phanai, speak) is abnormal slowness of speech, often linked with mental illness; bradykinin (Greek kinēsis, motion) is a compound released in the blood in some circumstances which causes contraction of smooth muscle and dilation of blood vessels.
